Ellie Salthouse
Professional Triathlete | Australia
Ellie Salthouse is a professional triathlete from Brisbane, Australia, competing at the highest level of middle- and long-course racing around the world. She splits her time between Brisbane and her U.S. training base in St. George, Utah, where she prepares for the demands of the global triathlon calendar.
Beyond racing, Ellie enjoys life away from the course just as much — whether that’s spending time at the beach, shopping, or connecting with family and friends. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Health and Medical Science at university and is passionate about mentoring and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
From Cereal Box to World Stage
Ellie’s journey into triathlon began at just 11 years old, after spotting a local kids’ triathlon advertised on the back of a cereal box. Instantly hooked, she found a junior coach in her local area and quickly progressed through the ranks. By 17, Ellie had turned professional and began racing internationally on the short-course circuit, before transitioning to middle-distance racing in 2016.
Built on Consistency and Curiosity
Rather than pointing to a single defining moment, Ellie takes pride in consistency and longevity at the top of the sport. With 25 half-distance victories to her name, she approaches every win and milestone with gratitude and perspective.
What drives her is a constant desire to improve. Ellie is motivated by the pursuit of incremental gains and believes she still hasn’t reached her full potential — a mindset that fuels her daily training and long-term ambitions.
Looking Ahead
Ellie’s primary focus for the 2025 season is the T100 World Tour, where she is targeting a top-five overall ranking. She also has her sights firmly set on a podium finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship later in the year.
Beyond the Finish Line
If she weren’t a professional triathlete, Ellie would likely be working as a dietician — a field she is deeply passionate about and closely connected to her academic studies.
Driven, disciplined, and always striving for more, Ellie Salthouse embodies the performance mindset that defines Argon 18 athletes.
