Tour of Denmark TT - Behind the Scenes with Team Novo Nordisk

This year's edition of the Tour of Denmark (August 15 to 19) proved to be a very successful one for Team Novo Nordisk. On the opening stage in Aalborg, the Team started what became five intense days of bike racing with a bang. Italian rider Filippo Ridolfo got himself in the right breakaway and secured the best young rider jersey, a first for TNN on their home turf. Ridolfo held on to the jersey for 3 stages. In addition to Ridolfo’s performance, Mathyas Kopecky and Andrea Peron respectively took top ten finishes on stages two and four.

“This is undoubtedly our most successful appearance ever at the Tour of Denmark. To consistently deliver strong performances day in and day out in front of our sponsors Novo Nordisk is truly amazing,”

- Vassili Davidenko, Team Novo Nordisk General Manager

Taking place in Elsinore, north of Copenhagen, this year’s final and decisive stage was an individual time trial held on Saturday, August 19. Disputed on what could be qualified as a technically relatively easy 16km course, it favoured time trial specialists able to maintain high speeds all the way to the finish line as exemplified by a list of previous winners: Fabian Cancellara, Richie Porte, and Mads Würtz Schmidt. Former world champion Mads Pedersen won the decisive stage and therefore became the race overall winner.

We were able to get behind the scenes with Team Novo Nordisk before, during, and after the final stage.

"This is what it’s all about—performing well while driving change in diabetes and spreading our message everywhere we go. Ours is a unique team, and I believe we demonstrated the importance of this team this week."

- Vassili Davidenko, Team Novo Nordisk General Manager

“It’s been an incredible week here in Denmark. Everything from our performance to the activities with Novo Nordisk and Argon 18, as well as the amazing fans we've encountered on every stage, has been out of this world,”

- Matyas Kopecky, Team Novo Nordisk Rider.
