Kelsey Mitchell

Track

Kelsey Mitchell rode on a velodrome for the first time at age 23 and began competing a year later, entering her first track race in February 2018. Within two years of that first velodrome ride, Kelsey became a world record holder, Pan American Games champion, and World Cup medallist in track cycling. She soon followed up that success by earning the title of Olympic champion in the sprint during her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 – only the second Olympic gold medal ever won by a Canadian track cyclist. She was also a triple medallist at the 2018 Canadian Championships, including a national title in the sprint, and at the 2019 Pan Ams, she set a world record in the flying 200m sprint.

Now with her sights set on Paris 2024, she continues to train and race with the Cycling Canada national team.
